Senior Electrical Project Engineer – Water Sector 📍 Sheffield 💰 £60,000 – £65,000 + package 🕒 Full-time | 45 hours per week 🔐 BPSS Clearance Required (Pre-employment) The Opportunity If you’re an experienced Electrical Project Engineer looking to step into a role with real ownership, this is it. You’ll take the lead on engineering delivery across major water sector projects—driving technical excellence, ensuring commercial success, and playing a key role in project leadership. This isn’t a back-office design role; you’ll be front and centre, influencing outcomes on site and in the boardroom. What You’ll Be Doing * Taking full responsibility for coordinating all electrical engineering aspects of projects * Ensuring designs, procurement, and installations align seamlessly across disciplines * Technically reviewing and approving procurement packages and subcontractor submissions * Leading drawing coordination, ensuring accuracy and buildability * Supporting commercial delivery alongside the Project Surveyor * Managing labour, productivity, and materials to keep projects on track and profitable * Working closely with Site Managers to drive installation progress and resolve issues * Monitoring project performance through reporting and productivity tracking * Acting as Project Manager when required – this role is a clear step toward PM level What We’re Looking For * Proven experience as an Electrical Project Engineer (ideally within water/utilities or infrastructure) * Strong understanding of M&E coordination and installation processes * Commercial awareness – you understand cost, value, and delivery * Confident managing subcontractors and technical submissions * A hands-on, solutions-focused approach * Leadership capability with the ambition to step into Project Management Why This Role Stands Out * Clear progression path into Project Management * High-impact role with genuine autonomy * Stable, long-term work within the water sector * Strong salary bracket with opportunity to grow The Bottom Line This is for engineers who don’t just want to “support projects”—they want to drive them.
