About the role

Reporting to the Senior Design Manager, the Architectural Manager will play a key role within an award‑winning team, supporting the delivery of high‑quality residential developments in line with Cala’s standards and values. The role focuses on the coordination, management, and delivery of architectural and technical information across multiple projects, ensuring design excellence and consistency throughout all stages of development.You will work closely alongside internal and external consultants, building control bodies, and suppliers, taking responsibility for ensuring that all technical information is delivered accurately, on time, and in accordance with Cala requirements. Acting as a key point of contact for architectural matters, you will manage and maintain strong relationships with clients, external agencies, and consultants, contributing to the successful delivery of multiple developments.The role involves regular collaboration with the in‑house teams, including the construction team, ensuring designs are well coordinated, practical, and fully resolved. You will take an active role in reviewing and coordinating drawings, attending meetings, and ensuring effective communication across all stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside internal teams and external consultants, building control bodies, and suppliers to ensure the delivery of high-quality technical information in line with Cala standards and values.
  • Manage all client relationships, acting as a key point of contact throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Liaise closely with external agencies and consultants to coordinate design and technical information across multiple projects.
  • Take responsibility for the successful delivery of architectural and technical aspects of developments.
  • Attend and lead client meetings and public information sessions as required.
  • Work closely with and coordinate external consultants to ensure designs are accurate, compliant, and well resolved.
  • Meet regularly with the in‑house teams, including the construction team, to support effective communication and coordination.
  • Coordinate and review drawings to ensure consistency, quality, and alignment with approved standards.

About You

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Essential:

  • Strong passion for detail, accuracy, and design quality.
  • HNC/HND or degree‑level qualification in Architecture or Architectural Technology (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Extensive working knowledge of Scottish Building Standards and NHBC Requirements.
  • Expert‑level proficiency in AutoCAD, with strong general IT skills.
  • Proven ability to clearly present and explain design and technical information to both non-design/non‑technical colleagues and technical peers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively on own initiative, demonstrating sound judgement and accountability.
  • Proven ability to perform under pressure and manage workloads to meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Commitment to teamwork and contributing positively to a collaborative working environment.
  • Demonstrable alignment with a culture of design excellence and 100% customer satisfaction.
  • Willingness to actively engage in Continuing Professional Development (CPD), seeking out relevant learning opportunities in line with Cala standards and expectations.
  • Familiarity with the North East of Scotland housing market, including established professional networks across the region.
  • Experience working on standard & bespoke residential homes and developments.
  • Experience working for a housebuilder or architectural consultancy within residential development.
  • Understanding of sustainable residential design principles and quality‑led placemaking.
  • Experience collaborating closely with internal Technical teams and external consultants.
