SEMH Teaching Assistants (Full-Time / Long-Term) Burnham | Secondary School Settings September/ASAP Start | Competitive Daily Rate Supply Desk is delighted to be working in partnership with a number of supportive and inclusive secondary schools in the Burnham area to recruit dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistants. This is a fantastic opportunity to support young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and make a meaningful difference in their education and personal development. This role would suit resilient, patient, and proactive individuals who are passionate about supporting students in overcoming barriers to learning and achieving positive outcomes. The Role As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will support students both in and out of the classroom, helping them to regulate emotions, engage with learning, and develop positive behaviours in a structured and nurturing environment. Key Responsibilities Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEMH needs Assist teachers in delivering lessons and adapting learning to meet individual needs Support students in managing behaviour and emotional regulation Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage engagement Implement behaviour management strategies and individual support plans Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff Support pupils with transitions throughout the school day Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams Requirements Previous experience working with young people, ideally in a school or SEMH setting Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies Calm, patient, and resilient approach Ability to build rapport with secondary-aged students Strong communication and teamwork skills Flexible and adaptable mindset Ability to work full-time in the Burnham area Desirable Experience supporting students with SEMH, trauma, or behavioural needs Background in youth work, care, or mentoring Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures Team Teach or behaviour management training Experience in secondary school settings Why This Role?
