Overview

An established and reputable law firm based in Chelmsford is seeking an experienced Conveyancing Fee Earner to join its growing property department. This is a fee‑earning role, not secretarial, suitable for a qualified CILEX Lawyer, CILEX Paralegal, or someone currently studying towards CILEX with strong hands-on conveyancing experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing a full residential conveyancing caseload from instruction through to completion
• Handling a mix of freehold and leasehold transactions
• Acting on sales, purchases, transfers of equity, and remortgages
• Drafting contracts, dealing with enquiries, and reviewing titles
• Liaising with clients, estate agents, lenders, and solicitors
• Ensuring compliance with all regulatory and firm procedures
• Providing a high level of client care throughout the transaction

Candidate Requirements

• Proven experience working as a Conveyancing Fee Earner (not a legal secretary or assistant)
• CILEX qualified or working towards CILEX, or equivalent substantive conveyancing experience
• Ability to manage an independent caseload with minimal supervision
• Strong knowledge of residential conveyancing processes
• Confident communicator with excellent client-facing skills
• Highly organised with good attention to detail
