Harrow, London (Hybrid working) must be within a commutable distance

£50,000 per annum + 10% KPI bonus

35 hours per week

We’re working with a well-established national retail and distribution organisation who are looking to bring in an experienced Buyer to join their central trading team in Harrow.

This is a key role within the business where you’ll take ownership of category performance, supplier relationships, and commercial delivery – helping to drive profitability, availability, and efficiency across the board.

About the role:

You’ll be responsible for managing and developing key product categories within a fast-paced retail environment. Working closely with both suppliers and internal stakeholders, you’ll ensure strong commercial performance while maintaining excellent product availability and cost control.

Occasional travel may be required.


Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver category plans to maximise profitability and optimise supplier terms
  • Lead supplier negotiations, including cost price changes and commercial agreements
  • Manage income budgets and forecast promotional spend
  • Plan and execute seasonal and promotional trading activity
  • Build and maintain strong supplier and internal relationships
  • Monitor product availability and resolve supply chain or trading issues


What we’re looking for:

Essential:

  • Proven buying/negotiation experience within a recognised brand
  • Background within the food retail sector
  • Strong commercial awareness and confidence working with data
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills

Desirable:

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Business or related discipline

Personal style:

  • Commercially sharp with a resilient approach
  • Strong communicator and natural collaborator
  • Highly organised with great prioritisation skills
  • Confident problem solver who can adapt quickly
