We are looking for a dedicated and resilient Residential Youth Support Worker to join a committed team at a childrens residential home in East Sussex.
The home offers high-quality, nurturing care for children and young people aged 719 who have experienced significant trauma and are unable to live in foster placements. Some may also have learning disabilities or other complex needs. In this role, you will be key in creating a safe, stable, and supportive environment where young people can recover, build independence, and reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver consistent, high-quality care and emotional support to children and young people
Safeguard and promote the wellbeing of all residents
Support individuals with emotional, behavioural, and psychological challenges
Build and maintain positive relationships with young people, families, and professionals
Contribute to care plans, risk assessments, and regular reviews
Keep accurate records, reports, and documentation
Encourage and support the development of life skills and independence
Plan and take part in activities and community involvement
Safely administer and record medication (following appropriate training)
Lead shifts when required and support junior or temporary staff
Work flexibly on a rota basis, including sleep-in shifts
Requirements
Experience working with children and young people (e.g. residential care, education, or youth work)
NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent (desirable)
Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
Ability to support young people with complex emotional, behavioural, and psychological needs
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Confidence in building positive, professional relationships with young people, families, and external agencies
Emotional resilience and the ability to manage challenging behaviour calmly
Willingness to work within therapeutic and trauma-informed frameworks
