Senior / Principal Engineer (Bridges & Structures)Role SummaryExperienced Senior / Principal Engineer providing technical leadership to deliver defined packages of bridge and structural engineering maintenance and refurbishment work including management of post-tensioned concrete bridges. Accountable for quality, programme, and technical oversight within a multi-disciplinary team.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the technical delivery of small to medium work packages (inspection, assessment, design, or renewal schemes) to programme and budgetProvide technical direction, checking, and approval of designs, calculations, and reportsEnsure compliance with standards, specifications, and governance processesContribute to planning, risk management, and commercial awareness on projectsAttend site on an ad-hoc basis to suit National Highways’ programme of PTSI during night or day time shiftsProvide on-site supervision for PTSI activities ensuring compliance with CS 465 and witness and log events as necessary to maintain accurate recordsProduction of PTSI Interpretative ReportsMentor and guide junior engineers; support capability within the teamAct as a key interface with clients and internal disciplinesRequired Experience & SkillsDegree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent)Chartered Engineer (CEng MICE / MIStructE)Strong background in bridge/structures asset management, design and assessmentSignificant experience of post-tensioned concrete bridges and PTSI site supervisionProficient in relevant design codes, analysis methods and reporting, including National Highways proceduresDemonstrable experience leading technical delivery of projectsEffective communicator with ability to work across disciplinesDriving license requiredDesirableNational Highways Passport and CSCS cardAbout NRLThe NRL Group connect global companies with the right people to bring engineering projects to life.
