Storesperson

Glasgow (On-site)

Full-Time, Permanent (37 hours per week Mon-Friday Day Shift)

The Opportunity

First Achieve Engineering is working in partnership with a well-established manufacturing

business based in Glasgow to recruit a Storesperson.

This is a key role within the operations team, responsible for ensuring the smooth

management of inventory, procurement, and supplier coordination. You'll play a vital part in

maintaining stock accuracy and supporting production through effective materials

management.

The Role

As a Storesperson, you will be responsible for managing stock levels, coordinating

purchasing activities, and ensuring materials are available to meet operational demands.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing inventory across raw materials, finished components, and bought-in goods
  • Monitoring stock levels in line with MRP system requirements
  • Preventing overstocking and ensuring efficient stock control
  • Procuring materials and issuing RFQs to approved suppliers
  • Evaluating suppliers based on cost, lead time, and quality
  • Negotiating pricing and tracking cost savings
  • Creating and managing purchase orders through to delivery
  • Monitoring and expediting deliveries to meet agreed timelines
  • Recording goods-in and carrying out initial inspections
  • Maintaining accurate inventory records and reporting on stock status
  • Supporting spares and parts ordering requirements
  • Assisting with stock audits and ensuring system accuracy
  • Supporting continuous improvement of purchasing and stock control processes
  • Occasional collection/delivery of parts to customers and suppliers
  • Working in line with quality and compliance standards (ISO )

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Experience in a stores, inventory, or procurement role within a

manufacturing/engineering environment

  • Strong working knowledge of xwzovoh Microsoft Office
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Confident negotiating with suppliers
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

Desirable:

  • Experience using MRP/production control systems (e.g. Progress Plus or similar)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Forklift licence
