About the role
My client in the West Midlands are seeking an experienced Interim Environmental Protection Officer to support the Environmental Health team with domestic complaints work.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a caseload of domestic environmental health complaints, including statutory nuisance investigations relating to noise, smoke, odour, and other residential issues.
* Conduct site visits, investigations, and evidence gathering in line with relevant legislation and council procedures.
* Prepare clear, robust written correspondence, case notes, and formal notices where required.
* Liaise professionally with residents, landlords, housing providers, and internal departments.
* Provide timely case progression and resolutions, ensuring good customer service throughout.
Key Requirements
* Previous experience working as an Environmental Protection / Environmental Health Officer within a local authority setting.
* Strong working knowledge of statutory nuisance legislation and domestic complaint handling.
* Ability to manage cases autonomously and work to deadlines.
* Excellent communication and report‑writing skills.
* Competent IT skills and experience using environmental health case management systems (desirable)
