Were recruiting for a Tree Officer to play a key role in protecting and managing the boroughs trees within planning and conservation environments.

This is a hands-on, professional role combining site inspections, planning advice, and enforcementideal for someone with strong arboricultural knowledge and local authority experience.

What youll be doing

• Assess applications for works to protected trees and within conservation areas
• Manage and review Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs)
• Advise planning teams, officers, and councillors on arboricultural impact
• Lead enforcement on unauthorised tree works
• Represent the council in appeals and legal proceedings
• Carry out site inspections across Calderdale
• Liaise with external bodies including the Forestry Commission

• HNC in Arboriculture (essential)
• Strong knowledge of planning & tree protection legislation
• Experience inspecting and assessing trees/woodlands xwzovoh
• Ability to produce clear reports and recommendations
• Confident communicator across stakeholders
• Full UK driving licence + access to a vehicle

• Hybrid working (office + site + home)
• No DBS required
• Occasional evening Planning Committee meetings
• Must be able to travel across the borough
