Rate: £30–£50 per hour

Contract: Locum (Full-time, part-time considered)

IR35 Status: Inside IR35

We are currently working with a forward-thinking Local Authority to appoint an experienced Locum Occupational Therapist to support their Adult Social Care service during a period of increased demand.


This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-structured team focused on delivering high-quality, person-centred interventions that enable individuals to live independently and safely within their communities.


The Role

You will be responsible for delivering high-quality occupational therapy assessments and interventions across a varied caseload. This includes supporting adults with complex needs, implementing care plans, and working collaboratively with wider multi-disciplinary teams.

You will play a key role in promoting independence, reducing risk, and ensuring appropriate provision of equipment and adaptations in line with legislative frameworks.


Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake strengths-based assessments under the Care Act
  • Complete functional assessments and recommend appropriate equipment and adaptations
  • Manage a varied caseload, including complex cases
  • Work collaboratively with social workers, housing teams, and health colleagues
  • Contribute to safeguarding processes where required
  • Ensure accurate and timely case recording


Essential Criteria

  • Qualified Occupational Therapist with HCPC registration
  • Experience working within Adult Social Care in a local authority setting
  • Strong understanding of the Care Act and relevant legislation
  • Experience completing moving and handling assessments
  • Ability to manage a busy caseload independently


Desirable Experience

  • Experience working with Disabled Facilities Grants (DFGs)
  • Knowledge of housing adaptations and major works
  • Previous experience in community-based roles
  • Familiarity with local authority case management systems
