Field Service Engineer – Plant & Industrial Equipment Location: Reading- Nationwide Travel Required Job Type: Full-Time (Flexible Hours Considered) Package: £40,000-£50,000 + Overtime + Company Van + Training + Progression Join a Growing Engineering Business with Ambition Link Consultants are working with a fast-growing plant machinery services business based near Reading, supporting clients across construction, manufacturing, recycling, logistics, and wider industrial sectors nationwide. With a strong reputation for quality workmanship, professional engineers, and excellent customer service, they are continuing to expand. They are now looking for a skilled Field Service Engineer seeking a long-term career opportunity within a business that offers clear direction, stability, and progression. The Role This is a varied, hands-on field-based role working across a wide range of plant and industrial equipment. You will be responsible for diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, and completing servicing and preventative maintenance at customer sites across the UK. This role requires strong technical ability, confidence working independently, and a professional approach when dealing with customers. * Approx. 70% site-based work (nationwide travel) * Approx. 30% yard-based support * Occasional overnight stays required * Primarily independent working You will act as a key representative on-site, delivering a reliable, high-quality service while maintaining excellent customer relationships. Key Responsibilities * Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults on plant and industrial equipment * Carry out servicing and preventative maintenance to a high standard * Communicate clearly with customers, explaining issues and solutions * Complete digital job reports and compliance documentation accurately * Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and workmanship * Represent the business professionally while working independently What We’re Looking For We’re looking for a capable and confident engineer who takes pride in their work and delivers consistently high standards. Essential: * Strong experience working with plant machinery, access equipment, forklifts, HGVs, or similar * Confident fault-finding across hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems * Proven servicing and maintenance experience * Ability to work independently and make decisions on-site * NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Plant, Engineering, or similar * Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel What’s on Offer * Competitive salary (depending on experience) * Overtime opportunities * Company van, tools, and PPE provided * Flexible working hours where possible * Ongoing training and development * Opportunity to gain additional qualifications (LOLER, PUWER, PSSR) * Potential private healthcare (role dependent) "We are a recruitment consultancy advertising this role on behalf of our client.
