A welcoming Sikh primary school in Slough is looking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team on a full-time basis. This is a long-term opportunity that will continue beyond the current academic year for the right candidate.
The RoleAs an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work across KS1, supporting pupils within both Year 1 and Year 2. You will provide targeted support for children with additional needs, particularly pupils with ASD and ADHD, helping them access learning and engage positively within the classroom environment.
The role will involve providing 1:1 and small group support, assisting pupils with emotional regulation, communication, concentration, and social interaction throughout the school day. You will also support phonics sessions, helping children develop early reading, literacy, and communication skills through engaging and structured activities.
You will work closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and support staff to ensure pupils receive consistent and tailored support. A calm, patient, and proactive approach is essential, as you will play a key role in creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
The ideal candidate will:• Have previous experience supporting children with ASD and ADHD
• Have experience working within KS1 or a primary school setting
• Have knowledge or experience supporting phonics and early literacy development
• Be patient, empathetic, and resilient
• Demonstrate strong communication and teamwork skills
• Have a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
• Be committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
