Private Sector Housing Manager

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a Local Authority in Essex for an experienced Private Sector Housing Manager to join their Environmental Health and Regulatory Services team on an interim basis for an initial 6-month assignment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced housing professional to lead and shape private sector housing enforcement and regulatory services within a progressive council environment. The role is offered on a part-time basis (2 days per week), with flexible and hybrid working arrangements available by agreement.

Key Responsibilities of a Private Sector Housing Manager:
HMO Licensing and compliance
Private Sector Housing enforcement activity
Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) inspections and interventions
Ensuring statutory compliance across housing enforcement functions
Leading service improvement and operational performance
Supporting strategic priorities relating to housing standards and tenant protection
Working collaboratively with internal departments, landlords, residents, and external stakeholders
About You:
Strong experience within Private Sector Housing and Environmental Health
Detailed knowledge of housing legislation, including HMO licensing and HHSRS
Previous management or leadership experience within a local authority setting
Experience overseeing enforcement and regulatory services
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills xwzovoh
The ability to quickly adapt and deliver within an interim assignment
Contract Details: Interim contract initial 6 months
Part-time opportunity 2 days per week
