Field Service Engineer

Job Title: Field Service Engineer Location: Hertfordshire & neighbouring areas (Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Greater London) Also recruiting across Kent, Bristol, Plymouth & Exeter, plus an Installation Engineer in Manchester Salary: £36,000 basic + bonus structure, overtime & company benefits Employer: Confidential – Leading manufacturer & service provider of commercial laundry equipment About the Role As a Field Service Engineer, you will be the face of the business—delivering exceptional on-site maintenance, repairs, and technical support for industry-leading commercial laundry equipment. You will work closely with customers and distributor technicians to diagnose faults, carry out preventative servicing, and minimise downtime. Key Responsibilities * Attend customer sites to carry out repairs, servicing, and preventative maintenance * Diagnose electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults efficiently * Achieve high first-time fix rates * Maintain accurate service records and parts usage logs * Ensure your van stock is well organised and maintained * Provide remote technical support when required * Contribute to continuous improvement, training materials, and product feedback What We’re Looking For * White Goods Experience (ideal): Domestic or commercial appliance background * Electrical/Mechanical Skills: City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, or 2+ years’ field experience * Technical Ability: Confident with schematics, diagnostics, and fault finding * Gas Qualifications (desirable): Support available for Gas Safe if not held * Strong Communication Skills and customer-focused approach * Flexible to travel across the region * Self-motivated with the ability to work independently What’s on Offer * £36,000 basic salary + bonus & overtime * Company van, fuel card & insurance * 28 days holiday + bank holidays * Pension scheme * Private healthcare & life assurance * Ongoing training & development (including Gas Safe) * Strong work-life balance and supportive team culture About Us At Woodrow Mercer Engineering, we are market leaders within the engineering recruitment sector, specialising in both commercial and domestic appliance roles across the UK.
