ABOUT THE CLIENT


Our client is at the forefront of the UK’s nuclear energy transformation, supporting the delivery of a portfolio of new nuclear projects, including Small Modular Reactors (SMRs). This is a unique opportunity to play a strategic leadership role in shaping the future of nuclear energy in the UK, working across government, regulators, and industry.


THE HEAD OF TECHNICAL DELIVERY ROLE


As Head of Technical Delivery, you will act as a senior technical leader and intelligent customer, overseeing the delivery of complex technical workstreams across a major nuclear programme.

You will work closely with senior stakeholders across government and industry, providing technical assurance, strategic direction, and programme oversight, while building and leading a high-performing team.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Programme & Technical Leadership

• Oversee delivery of technical workstreams across a portfolio of nuclear projects

• Ensure delivery to time, cost, and quality standards

• Align technical delivery with business and government objectives

• Provide technical assessments and reporting to senior leadership


Stakeholder Engagement

• Collaborate with HMG, regulators, and industry partners

• Interface with international technology vendors

• Represent the organisation in senior forums and public engagements


Delivery & Assurance

• Support project assurance and governance activities

• Contribute to business cases, procurement, and major programme delivery

• Manage contracts with external service providers

• Monitor programme performance and drive continuous improvement


Leadership & Team Development

• Build and lead multi-disciplinary technical teams

• Develop resourcing strategies and support recruitment activities

• Provide mentorship and leadership across engineering and programme teams

• Promote a strong, collaborative organisational culture


ESSENTIAL SKILLS


• Significant experience within the nuclear industry or similar high-hazard sector

• Proven track record delivering complex, large-scale technical programmes

• Strong leadership experience managing multi-disciplinary teams

• Experience working with government, regulators, and senior stakeholders

• Strong understanding of programme delivery, governance, and assurance xwzovoh

• Excellent communication skills – able to present complex technical information clearly

• Experience supporting procurement, business cases, and strategic delivery frameworks


DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE


• Experience with SMR or nuclear new build programmes

• Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent)

• Background in consulting or advisory roles within major infrastructure programmes


QUALIFICATIONS


• Degree in Engineering, Science, or related discipline

• Chartered status desirable but not essential
