Podiatrist - HMP Fosse Way

Job Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced podiatrist to join our Health in Justice (HiJ) Musculoskeletal (MSK) team on a part‑time basis at HMP Fosse Way, Leicester. This role consists of 6 sessions per month (24 hours per month). Salary is £40,000 – £49,000 pro rata depending on experience. There is no on‑call or weekend work, allowing a strong work‑life balance.

Main duties of the job

• Provide outstanding evidence‑based care, advanced assessment and treatment of patients who may have complex or chronic presentations.
• Determine clinical diagnosis and treatment, and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.
• Assess and treat a range of conditions including diabetic patients, wound management, MSK pathologies, and nail surgery.
• Deliver non‑judgemental care, build therapeutic relationships, and promote professional boundaries.
• Contribute to the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care following our policies and procedures.
• Inspire excellence in colleagues by proactively managing foot, ankle and lower‑extremity conditions and motivating the team to identify high‑risk patients.
• Forge strong working relationships with the Practice Plus Group healthcare team and the wider Health in Justice Service.
• Be responsible for your own caseload and waiting list as an autonomous practitioner.

Qualifications and experience

• HCPC registration with proven post‑registration experience of assessing and treating a range of conditions.
• Experience assessing and treating diabetic patients.
• Experience assessing and treating wound management.
• Experience assessing and treating MSK pathologies.
• Experience assessing and treating nail surgery.
• Self‑motivated with excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Evidence of CPD and work within the MSK speciality.
• A non‑judgemental, compassionate approach.
• Excellent IT skills in MS Word, Outlook and, ideally, experience with electronic notes systems.
