Role: Perinatal Support Worker
Location: Home based ( regional travel around North Northamptonshire.)
Contract Type: Temporary contract with strong possibility of it being made permanent
Hours: 37 hours ( Monday- Friday)
Hourly Rate: £14 - £18 pounds an hour (dependent on pay status.)
Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Perinatal Support Worker to provide support to families during pregnancy and early parenthood. The service offers universal and targeted parenting support for families experiencing mild to moderate mental health challenges and parent-infant relationship difficulties.
The role involves supporting mothers, fathers and co-parents with children under two years old through evidence-based parenting programmes, antenatal groups, targeted parent-infant interventions, peer support, and community drop-in sessions. The aim is to help parents feel more confident in their transition to parenthood and in caring for their children.
Key Responsibilities
Co-facilitate evidence-based parenting support groups including Mellow Bumps, Mellow Dads, Watch, Wait and Wonder, The Solihull Approach, and peer support/drop-in groups.
Hold a caseload of families providing one-to-one support and Video Interaction Guidance interventions.
Support delivery of community outreach activities alongside the Project Coordinator.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records using case management systems.
Complete assessments, evaluations, and outcome measurement tools.
Participate in supervision, appraisals, and ongoing training and development.
Promote equality, diversity, inclusion, safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection in all aspects of work.
Work flexibly to meet the needs of the service. Essential Requirements
Enhanced DBS on Update Service or issued within the last 12 months
UK driving Licence with access to a vehicle
Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in Health & Social Care, Mental Health, or Early Years.
Experience supporting pregnant women and new parents with mild to moderate mental health needs and/or experience within an Early Years setting.
Experience delivering group work and one-to-one support.
Knowledge of safeguarding, confidentiality, and data protection procedures.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Confident using IT systems including Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and case management systems.
