About the role
Reeson Education is delighted to be partnering with a vibrant and inclusive Mainstream Primary School in Kingston Upon Thames to recruit a dedicated Primary Resource Base Teacher.
This is a unique opportunity to join a specialist provision within a mainstream setting. Our Resource Base is designed for pupils who benefit from a high level of specialist support while remaining an integral part of our warm school community. If you are passionate about bridging the gap between specialist and mainstream education, this is the role for you.
The Role: Primary Resource Base Lead
You will be responsible for leading a small, nurturing class of primary-aged pupils (EYFS-KS2) who have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and/or Social Communication needs.
The Resource Base serves as a "hub" of expertise. You will create a structured environment that allows pupils to access a specialist curriculum while supporting their successful inclusion into mainstream classes where appropriate. You will be supported by a dedicated team of specialist Teaching Assistants.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Differentiated Primary Delivery: Plan and deliver a highly personalised curriculum that focuses on the core primary framework, adapted for learners with ASD and communication difficulties.
Inclusion Advocacy: Work closely with mainstream class teachers to facilitate successful "step-out" opportunities, ensuring pupils feel confident in the wider school environment.
EHCP Management: Lead the implementation and tracking of EHCP targets, ensuring every small step of progress is celebrated and documented.
Therapeutic Collaboration: Partner with the SENCO, Speech and Language Therapists, and Occupational Therapists to integrate specialist strategies into daily classroom life.
Nurturing Environment: Use visual schedules, sensory breaks, and positive behavior support to create a "low-arousal" space where pupils feel safe to learn.
What We Are Looking For:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Proven experience teaching within a UK Primary setting.
SEN Expertise: A deep understanding of Autism (ASD) and Speech, Language & Communication Needs (SLCN). Experience within a Resource Base or SEN unit is highly desirable.
Adaptability: A teacher who can pivot between sensory-based learning and formal primary academic instruction.
Collaborative Spirit: Excellent communication skills to lead a team of TAs and engage effectively with parents and external professionals.
Compliance: An enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one through Reeson Education).
Why This Role?
This position offers the best of both worlds: the specialist resources and small class sizes of an SEN school, combined with the community feel and professional development opportunities of a thriving Primary school.
A permanent contract is available for the right candidate.
