As a Development Underwriter, you will play a key role in delivering the Regional Business Plan by underwritingcomplex and high value Property and Casualty risksacross both new and existing business. You will use your technical expertise and commercial judgement to secure profitable growth while acting as a senior referral point for complex and niche risks. The role requires confidence in decision making and the ability to balance underwriting discipline with market opportunity.

You will build and maintain strong, long term relationships with brokers and customers across the region, positioning yourself as a trusted and credible underwriting partner. Through targeted prospecting and effective pipeline development, you will identify and convert new business opportunities, supporting brokers with tailored, risk based solutions that help win and retain profitable accounts. You will also represent the organisations values, brand and underwriting standards across the market.

This position is home based and involves regular travel across the Midlands, Central and South West regions, offering high visibility and the opportunity to make a genuine impact on regional performance. It is well suited to a proactive, self motivated underwriter who thrives in an autonomous role with strong external engagement.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience underwriting commercialProperty and Casualty riskswithin the UK insurance market, along with a strong track record of broker relationship management and business development. You will bring excellent technical knowledge, including exposure to non standard or complex risks, as well as the confidence to operate at senior broker level.
