An opportunity has now arisen for an experienced Physiotherapist to join Southampton FC's Academy Sports Medicine and Performance Department, leading physiotherapy provision within the Under-21 programme at Staplewood Campus.
Working at the final stage of the academy pathway, you will play a key role in supporting the health, availability and long-term development of some of the club's most promising young players. Operating within a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will work closely with coaches, sports scientists, athletic performance staff and medical colleagues to deliver high-quality injury prevention, rehabilitation and performance support programmes.
This role will suit an individual who combines strong clinical expertise with outstanding communication skills. Southampton are looking for someone who can build trust, influence decision-making and effectively translate medical information into practical solutions within a fast-paced football environment.

The impact you'll make
- Lead the assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and injury prevention provision for Southampton FC's Under-21 players.
- Act as a trusted voice within the multidisciplinary team, providing clear and practical guidance to coaches, players and performance staff.
- Design and deliver progressive rehabilitation programmes that support players returning safely and effectively to performance.
- Work collaboratively with sports scientists and athletic performance coaches to integrate rehabilitation, conditioning and performance objectives.
- Utilise performance data and objective markers to inform decision-making and enhance rehabilitation pathways.
- Support player transitions between academy and first-team environments, helping create alignment across the club's medical and performance departments.
- Contribute to matchday and training-ground medical provision within a high-performance football environment.
- Help shape and evolve best practice within an ambitious and progressive medical department.

Your skills and experience
- Degree-qualified Physiotherapist and HCPC/CSP registered.
- Experience working within professional football and/or elite sport environments.
- Strong understanding of injury prevention, rehabilitation and return-to-performance principles.
- Experience operating within multidisciplinary sports medicine and performance teams.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to adapt your approach to different audiences and environments.
- Ability to build credibility and trusted relationships with players, coaches and colleagues.
- Comfortable influencing decision-making within fast-paced, high-performance settings.
- Experience using performance data and objective testing to support rehabilitation and player development.
- A proactive, adaptable and solutions-focused approach.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
