Job Title: Automotive Polisher & Painter
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 17:00
Pay Rate: £17.00 per hour
Job Summary:
The Automotive Polisher & Painter is responsible for preparing, refinishing, and restoring vehicle surfaces to a high-quality standard. This role involves polishing painted surfaces, applying paint coatings, and ensuring all finishes meet company and customer expectations for appearance and durability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare vehicle surfaces for painting, including sanding, masking, and cleaning.
- Apply primers, base coats, and clear coats using appropriate spray equipment.
- Polish and buff painted surfaces to achieve a smooth, high-gloss finish.
- Inspect completed work for defects such as runs, orange peel, dust contamination, or uneven finishes.
- Carry out rectification work, including re-polishing or repainting where necessary.
- Maintain spray booths, polishing tools, and equipment in good working condition.
- Follow all health, safety, and environmental regulations, including proper handling of paints and chemicals.
- Ensure all work is completed within set timeframes while maintaining quality standards.
- Work collaboratively with other team members, including inspectors and production staff.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and a high standard of workmanship.
- Experience with automotive painting techniques and polishing processes.
- Ability to use spray guns, polishing machines, and related equipment.
- Good understanding of paint types, coatings, and finishing techniques.
- Ability to identify and correct paint defects.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
Experience:
- Previous experience in automotive painting and polishing is required.
- Experience in a manufacturing or body shop environment is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform manual tasks.
- Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity.
- Ability to work in environments involving fumes, noise, and protective equipment.
