About the role

Tool maker Corby Monday to Friday Working hours £17.00 per hour (£35,300 per year) We are seeking an experienced Tool maker to join our clients engineering team. This role involves producing high-precision components predominantly using manual milling and turning machines, working from technical drawings, and maintaining quality standards. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced precision engineer / toolmaker / who takes pride in precision craftsmanship and enjoys hands-on work. Key Responsibilities Design and fabricate precision tools such as dies, moulds, jigs, fixtures and special guides used in manufacturing Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to create components with extremely tight tolerances Operate machining equipment including lathes, milling machines, grinders, CNC Machines to cut and shape materials. Use CAD/CAM Software to design and programme tool paths Inspect finished parts using measuring equipment (verniers, micrometres, gauges) Maintain repair and modify tools to ensure optimal performance Work with other engineers and production teams to achieve production targets Document records for quality and traceability.Required Skills & Experience To be considered for this role the candidate will be resident in the UK with right to work documentation in place as our client does not offer sponsorship and will have the following experience. Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent experience in engineering / machining Engineering or machining-related qualifications (preferred but not essential) Strong mechanical aptitude with an understanding of materials such as metals, ceramics, alloys and plastics. Ability to work confidently within an engineering environment A good understanding of CAD/CAM and CNC Technologies Competent with measuring and inspection equipment Understanding of workshop health & safety practices Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively Strong problem solving skills for diagnosing tool failures Full UK Driving Licence would be ideal as you may have to visit customers from time to time.
