location_onLeeds, West YorkshireacutePermanentManaging Associate | Residential Development & HousebuildingLeeds (Hybrid) | Salary CompetitiveLHH LegalWe are seeking an experienced property lawyer to join a growing Residential Development team, supporting a broad range of developer clients on land acquisition, site assembly and development projects.The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering legal services to housebuilders and residential developers, managing complex transactions, supervising junior team members and contributing to business growth initiatives. This role offers significant client contact and the opportunity to work on a varied portfolio of residential development projects.Key ResponsibilitiesAdvise residential developers on land acquisitions, site assembly and disposal transactions.Manage all aspects of legal due diligence, reporting and transactional delivery.Draft, negotiate and advise on a wide range of development documentation, including:Sale and purchase agreementsOption agreementsPromotion agreementsBuilding leasesTransfersOverage agreementsAssociated property and development documentationProvide clear legal advice and practical commercial solutions throughout the lifecycle of development projects.Identify legal and commercial risks and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.Support the efficient progression of residential development schemes from acquisition through to disposal.Work collaboratively with colleagues across specialist disciplines to ensure seamless project delivery.Facilitate effective handovers between teams involved in development, infrastructure and plot sales activities.Ensure matters are managed efficiently, meeting key deadlines and client expectations.Supervise, mentor and support junior lawyers, trainees and paralegals.Delegate work appropriately while maintaining oversight of quality and service delivery.Assist senior leaders with team management and development initiatives.Contribute to knowledge sharing and the development of best practice across the team.Build and maintain strong relationships with developer clients and professional contacts.Support business development initiatives aimed at growing client relationships and winning new work.Attend client meetings, networking events and industry activities as required.Contribute to raising the profile of the wider real estate and built environment practice.Actively identify opportunities to develop existing and new client relationships.Knowledge, Skills and ExperienceThe ideal candidate will have:Significant post-qualification experience within residential development, housebuilding or commercial property law.Strong experience advising developers on site acquisition, site assembly and development projects.Excellent drafting and negotiation skills across a range of property and development agreements.Strong commercial awareness and a practical, solution-focused approach to legal advice.Experience managing complex transactions and working to demanding deadlines.A track record of delivering exceptional client service.What the Role OffersExposure to a varied and high-quality portfolio of residential development work.Opportunities to work closely with leading developers and industry professionals.Significant client-facing responsibility.Leadership and mentoring opportunities.A collaborative and commercially focused working environment.Clear scope for career progression and professional development.Note: This job description is intended as a guide to the principal duties and responsibilities of the role and may be reviewed and amended to reflect changing business needs.
