Mechanical Fitter / Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
A well-established engineering organisation operating across the UK water and environmental sectors is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter / Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join its growing team.
Locations: Luton / Edmonton / Hoddesdon / Dartford
Salary: £20–£21 per hour
Working Hours: 7:00am–17:00pm
Contract: Permanent PAYE
Pay: 48 hours per week

The Role
As a Mechanical Fitter / Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, servicing, and repair of mechanical equipment and systems across a range of water, infrastructure, and environmental sites.
You will work as part of a professional engineering team, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities

Installing, maintaining, servicing, and repairing mechanical equipment
*
Fault finding and troubleshooting mechanical systems
*
Working on pumps, motors, pipework, valves, and associated equipment
*
Reading and interpreting technical drawings and schematics
*
Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
*
Supporting reactive and emergency maintenance works when required
*
Completing risk assessments and following method statements
*
Ensuring all work complies with company procedures and health and safety standards
*
Working independently and as part of a wider engineering team
Requirements
*
Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent mechanical engineering qualification
*
Previous experience in an on-site mechanical engineering environment
*
Strong knowledge of pumps, motors, pipework, valves, and mechanical systems
*
CSCS card or equivalent
*
Additional tickets such as EUSR, IPAF, PASMA, Confined Space, or Abrasive Wheels would be advantageous but are not essential
*
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
*
Good communication skills
*
Strong work ethic and a commitment to delivering high-quality work
