Principal Product Engineer

Principal Engineer We’re looking for a Principal Engineer who wants more ownership than just the technical bit. This is still hands-on engineering, but the role sits much closer to the product, customer and business problem. You’ll be working in a software business building products used in live, operational environments. The work has real users, real workflows and real consequences if the product decision is wrong. The key part of this role is being involved before everything has been turned into tickets. You’ll work with a customer-facing lead to understand what the client actually needs, what the business is trying to solve, and what is worth building. Then you’ll help shape the technical approach and deliver it properly. You’ll be expected to challenge things. Not for the sake of it, but because you can see when a feature is too complex, too expensive, too vague, or likely to create pain later. You’ll suit this if you’re the type of engineer who wants to understand the “why” behind the work, not just the implementation. What you’ll be doing * Working with customer-facing teams to shape product decisions * Understanding customer problems before agreeing the solution * Designing and delivering features end to end * Making technical trade-offs clear to the business * Challenging assumptions when something doesn’t make sense * Owning what you ship after it goes live * Helping set direction across your product area What they’re looking for * Principal / Staff / Lead level engineering experience * Strong product thinking, not just technical ability * Comfortable working with business, product and customer-facing teams * Able to push back clearly without making it difficult * Strong judgement around architecture, delivery and maintainability * Someone who can pick up unfamiliar tools and make sensible decisions * A focus on shipping good software, not just writing good code Current tech stack is mainly spans both TypeScript AWS & .NET Azure The stack matters less than the way you think.
