We are looking for an ambitious, collaborative and outcomes-focused senior leader to take on the role of Head of Economic Development and Inclusive Growth. This is a significant opportunity to lead the delivery of economic development, business support, inward investment, skills-related activity, destination management and inclusive growth programmes that make a visible difference to communities, businesses and places.
Working at senior Head of Service level, you will help drive the economic engine of the Economy and Place directorate, translating corporate, investment and place priorities into practical delivery and measurable outcomes. You will operate with professional autonomy, influence across organisational boundaries, and work with a wide range of partners to strengthen prosperity, opportunity and resilience.
We are seeking a credible and resilient senior professional with a strong track record of delivering economic development, inclusive growth or place-based economic programmes. You will bring political awareness, sound judgement and the ability to work confidently with councils, businesses, regional bodies, public sector partners and communities.
You will be values-led and delivery-focused, able to turn strategy into action, build trust across complex partnerships and maintain clear accountability for outcomes. Most importantly, you will be motivated by the opportunity to create inclusive economic growth that improves life chances, strengthens local business resilience and supports sustainable place outcomes.
If you are an experienced senior leader who can combine strategic insight with practical delivery, and who is committed to building stronger, fairer and more resilient local economies, we would welcome your application.
