Operations Manager

Location: Chemsford area Salary: Upwards of £55k Job Type: Full-time, permanent A well-established premium food production business is seeking an experienced and hands-on Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day operations across production, logistics, planning, and people management. This is a key leadership role within a growing agricultural and food business known for quality, high standards, and seasonal excellence. The successful candidate will play a central role in ensuring operational efficiency, maintaining product quality, improving processes, and leading teams through both steady-state operations and peak seasonal demand periods. Key Responsibilities * Lead and manage daily operational activities across production and supply chain functions * Drive operational efficiency, productivity, and continuous improvement initiatives * Manage staffing, scheduling, workflow planning, and resource allocation * Ensure compliance with food safety, health & safety, and regulatory standards * Monitor KPIs, budgets, and operational performance metrics * Coordinate closely with senior leadership to support business objectives and growth plans * Develop and maintain strong team culture, accountability, and communication * Oversee seasonal operational scaling during peak trading periods * Identify opportunities for automation, process improvement, and cost savings * Manage supplier, logistics, and external contractor relationships where required About You * Proven experience in an Operations Manager or senior operational leadership role * Background in food production, agriculture, FMCG, manufacturing, or supply chain operations preferred * Strong leadership and team management capability * Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills * Comfortable working in a fast-paced, seasonal environment * Experience managing budgets, KPIs, and operational reporting * Knowledge of health & safety and quality compliance standards * Hands-on, pragmatic, and proactive approach What’s on Offer * Opportunity to join a respected and growing premium food business * Senior leadership position with real operational influence * Supportive and entrepreneurial working environment * Competitive salary and benefits package * Long-term career development opportunities
