About the role
Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs?
Aspire People are recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants to work across specialist and mainstream education settings, supporting pupils with needs including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, communication difficulties and additional learning needs.
We have opportunities ranging from flexible day-to-day supply through to long-term roles, making this ideal whether you're an experienced Teaching Assistant or have transferable experience from care, support work or working with young people.
What you'll be doing:
-Providing 1:1 and small group support
-Supporting pupils with Autism and additional learning needs
-Helping pupils access classroom activities and learning
-Supporting communication, emotional regulation and social development
-Implementing individual learning and behaviour support strategies
-Encouraging independence, confidence and engagement
-Supporting pupils during practical and creative activities
-Working alongside teachers, SENCOs, therapists and other professionals
-Helping create a calm, safe and positive learning environment
-Providing personal care where required by the individual role
What we're looking for:
-Experience supporting children, young people or adults with additional needs is desirable
-School, SEN, care, support work, residential or youth work backgrounds welcomed
-A calm, patient and resilient approach
-Good communication and teamwork skills
-Confidence supporting behaviour and individual needs
-Team Teach, Makaton, PECS, Autism or other relevant training is highly desirable
-Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualifications are desirable but not essential for all roles
-Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
