Behaviour Support Mentor - Make a Genuine Impact

Locations: Weston-Super MareContract: Full-time, term time onlyPay: Competitive daily rate (based on experience)

We are currently recruiting Behaviour Support Mentors to work in schools and specialist settings, supporting children and young people who need additional help with behavioural, emotional and social development.

This opportunity is well-suited to individuals who want to use their experience, interpersonal skills and empathy to make a positive difference. No two days are the same - but each day offers the chance to have a meaningful impact.

About the Role

As a Behaviour Support Mentor, you will support students who may face social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges. Your role will focus on providing stability, encouragement and structure to help them stay engaged in education and develop effective coping strategies.

You'll play an important part in improving behaviour, boosting emotional wellbeing and building confidence, helping students develop skills for both school and everyday life.

Start Date: ASAP (roles available throughout the academic year)Working Pattern: Monday - Friday, term time only Typical Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm (may vary by school)

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 and small group support to students with behavioural, emotional or social needs • Help pupils develop positive behaviours, emotional control and social interaction skills • Build strong, trusting relationships that encourage engagement and confidence • Manage challenging situations calmly, using de-escalation techniques when necessary • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams to follow behaviour support plans • Act as a positive role model, promoting resilience, respect and self-confidence • Support students during lessons, transitions and structured activities across the school day

Youth workers, teaching assistants or mentors - skilled in supporting young people

Excellent communication and relationship-building skills A calm, consistent and patient approach Emotional resilience and a positive mindset in challenging situations Experience working with children or young people (formal or informal) A DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
