JOB DESCRIPTION
POST TITLE: Multi-Skills Lecturer (Construction)LOCATION: Newbury, BerkshireHOURS: 37 hours per weekCONTRACT: Full Time, PermanentSALARY: £33,656 - £39,034 per annum
JOB PURPOSE: To deliver high-quality teaching across foundation and introductory construction programmes, equipping learners with a broad range of practical skills and supporting progression into specialist trades.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver engaging teaching across entry-level and foundation construction programmes
- Plan and deliver practical sessions covering:
- Basic brickwork and masonry
- Carpentry and joinery
- Painting, decorating and tiling
- Property maintenance and repair
- Measurement, marking out and site preparation
- Support learners in identifying strengths and progression pathways into specific trades
- Assess learner work and provide timely, constructive feedback
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress and achievement
- Create a safe, inclusive and well-managed workshop environment
- Contribute to curriculum development to ensure industry relevance
- Participate in team meetings, CPD and college activities
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential:
- Broad site experience across multiple construction trades
- Level 2 or 3 qualification in a construction trade (e.g. Bricklaying or Carpentry)
- Experience working with entry-level learners or young people
- Strong organisational and communication skills
Desirable:
- Teaching qualification (PGCE/Cert Ed or equivalent)
- Experience delivering in Further Education or Apprenticeships
