We have an excellent opportunity for a Trainee / Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join our client, a highly successful construction company who design and deliver stunning architectural glazing solutions, working on some of the most iconic and technically challenging projects in the UK.
This role is ideal for a motivated graduate or trainee looking to build a long-term career in Quantity Surveying within a specialist construction environment.
You will work under the guidance of senior colleagues to support the commercial management of projects, helping to ensure successful financial outcomes across all allocated schemes.
The company will support and guide you through the apprenticeship route to achieve a recognised Quantity Surveying qualification, where applicable.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial & Financial Support
- Assisting with cost reporting, valuations, and financial forecasting
- Supporting procurement of materials, labour, and specialist services
- Helping track design changes and managing variations
- Assisting with applications for payment and cost reporting
- Supporting margin improvement through supply chain engagement
Project & Contract Administration
- Starting and maintaining project financial files
- Obtaining and agreeing procurement schedules and valuation dates
- Producing sales forecasts and valuation formats
- Submitting valuations and obtaining payment certificates
- Assisting with final accounts, retention releases, and claims
Subcontract & Supplier Management
- Placing subcontract orders
- Valuing variations and raising subcontract instructions
- Preparing and issuing subcontract payments
- Assisting in agreeing final subcontract accounts
Reporting & Site Involvement
- Preparing monthly cost value reconciliations
- Attending internal contract review meetings
- Reporting project risks and issues
- Visiting site regularly to maintain project awareness
Development & Progression
This role offers a structured development path:
- 6-month review
- 12-month review
- Annual reviews thereafter
Following successful completion of the initial development period, progression into a Quantity Surveyor role will be staged over 2-3 years, dependent on performance and ability.
