Join the Close Brothers Legal Team where you will provide regulatory and consumer credit advice to the business on matters relating to retail clients. Working as part of the Legal team, the ideal candidate will have previous experience providing legal input to project delivery and business transformation programmes, with excellent presentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on regulatory compliance with various matters, including Consumer Duty, enforceability, affordability, vulnerable customers and arrears processes.
  • Review, draft and advise on customer documentation (regulated, exempt and unregulated) and manage related disputes.
  • Ensure a consistent approach to regulatory and consumer credit matters across the Group.
  • Engage in areas where the role holder is not a subject‑matter expert, including foreign jurisdictions.
  • Attend key risk and compliance meetings and prepare legal papers and packs.
  • Support key change and transformation activities within the business, including actions linked to external and regulatory developments.
  • Identify and elevate material risks to appropriate stakeholders and risk committees.

Qualifications – Required

  • Senior lawyer with significant relevant experience and first‑rate academic credentials.
  • In‑depth understanding of the retail banking and financial services industry.
  • Business‑oriented lawyer capable of covering retail products, regulation and other broad‑based legal risk issues across the Motor Finance business’ product spectrum.
  • Experience operating within a highly regulated environment and collaborating with Compliance, Risk and Governance colleagues.
  • Ability to work at the ExCo level of the Premium business.

Qualifications – Preferred

  • A qualified solicitor.
  • Exposure to PQE.
  • In‑house legal experience.
