Mechanical Package Manager

Abatec is recruiting for an experienced freelance Mechanical Package Manager to join one of the South West’s largest and most high-profile civil engineering projects. This is an opportunity to work with an award-winning tier-one contractor, delivering a major redevelopment project Plymouth, Devon. This is a senior delivery role, managing complex mechanical interfaces within a major multi-disciplinary construction environment, offering long-term freelance work on a flagship UK infrastructure project. The successful candidate will have previous experience in a similar Mechanical Package Manager role, ideally on major civil engineering, infrastructure, or defence-related projects As Mechanical Package Manager you will: * Plan, coordinate, and deliver mechanical works safely, on time, and in accordance with project requirements and UK legislation * Manage the mechanical package including internal fit-out works and key M&E interfaces * Work closely with design teams and client representatives to review and optimise designs for safe, efficient and compliant construction * Oversee procurement, planning, and delivery of mechanical subcontract packages * Manage change control, risk, and opportunity throughout the project lifecycle * Ensure integration of mechanical works with wider construction and engineering activities * Provide accurate and timely reporting on site progress, programme performance, and commercial status Our client requires a Mechanical Package Manager with: * HNC, HND or degree (BSc, BEng, MEng or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline * CSCS Card (Black / Manager or Professionally Qualified Person preferred) * SMSTS certification * Strong background in mechanical packages within civil engineering, infrastructure or major projects * Experience managing subcontractors and mechanical delivery teams * Good understanding of construction sequencing, design coordination and CDM regulations Additional Information: * Due to the sensitive nature of the site, BPSS and SC security clearance will be required (this process can take several weeks) * Candidates must have resided in the UK for the past 5 years and hold a passport from a NATO or MISWG member country Salary and benefits include: * £500 - £600 p/day PAYE Umbrella If you would like more information, or to apply for this vacancy, please contact Lloyd Barham on (phone number removed).
