About the role

Overview A London Local Authority is seeking a Traffic Engineer to join its Streetscene service within the Neighbourhoods directorate. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a high-performing team delivering traffic and transport schemes across a complex urban environment. Key Responsibilities Support the delivery of a comprehensive traffic and transport engineering service Assist in the design, consultation, and implementation of traffic schemes, with the opportunity to lead projects at higher grades Prepare technical drawings, reports, and consultation materials Undertake and/or lead site surveys, traffic surveys, and data collection activities Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and best practice guidance Contribute to the preparation of committee reports and provide professional advice Engage with residents, stakeholders, and statutory bodies as part of consultation processes Support or lead correspondence and discussions with members of the public and internal stakeholders Ensure all work is delivered in line with quality standards, service objectives, and performance targets About You Experience in traffic engineering within an urban/local authority environment Strong understanding of relevant traffic management legislation and policies Ability to interpret technical drawings and transport data Experience delivering or supporting traffic schemes from design through to implementation Excellent written communication skills, including report writing and stakeholder correspondence Ability to manage workloads, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including confidence in public and committee settings Working towards or eligible for membership of a relevant professional body
