About the role

Key Account Manager 📍 Portsmouth | 💰 £70,000 – £80,000 + Package | 🏡 Hybrid Working | Permanent We’re working with a well-established consultancy supporting complex, high-profile programmes across regulated and security conscious environments, who are looking to appoint an experienced Key Account Manager to take ownership of several strategically important client relationships. This is very much a relationship-led role for someone who’s commercially aware, credible with senior stakeholders and comfortable operating in environments where professionalism, trust and discretion are absolutely key. You’ll be managing long-term accounts rather than quick wins building strong client relationships, overseeing delivery and identifying opportunities to grow and strengthen existing partnerships. The salary range is intentionally broad and will depend on things like your level of experience, the complexity of accounts you’ve managed, sector background and exposure to regulated or security-sensitive environments. The Role 🔹 Manage and develop a portfolio of key client accounts 🔹 Act as the main commercial and relationship lead for strategic customers 🔹 Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and decision makers 🔹 Oversee delivery performance alongside internal teams 🔹 Support account growth, contract extensions and wider service opportunities 🔹 Manage account risks, issues and escalation points when needed 🔹 Ensure projects are delivered in line with client expectations and contractual obligations 🔹 Maintain visibility across budgets, performance and utilisation 🔹 Work closely with leadership, delivery and operational teams internally What They’re Looking For ✅ Proven experience in a Key Account Manager or Senior Account Manager role ✅ Strong background within professional services, consultancy, engineering or programme environments ✅ Experience managing complex, long-term client relationships ✅ Commercially aware with the ability to spot growth opportunities ✅ Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills ✅ Able to operate calmly and professionally within high-pressure environments ✅ Strong organisational skills and attention to detail Desirable ⭐ Experience within defence, infrastructure, aerospace, government or other regulated sectors ⭐ Exposure to compliance-led or security-conscious environments ⭐ Experience supporting multi-disciplinary teams ⭐ Previous involvement in bids, renewals or strategic account growth What’s On Offer 💰 £70,000 – £80,000 depending on experience, sector exposure and account complexity managed 🏡 Hybrid working with flexibility around client commitments 📈 Clear progression opportunities as the business continues to grow 🤝 Exposure to complex, high-profile programmes 🎯 Supportive leadership team with genuine autonomy in the role Due to the nature of the work and potential security clearance requirements attached to some projects, applicants will need to be eligible to obtain UK security clearance. 📩 For further information or to apply, please submit your CV and we’ll be in touch to discuss the opportunity in more detail
