Reception Teaching Assistant – Early Years (EYFS)
Location: Islington, London
Pay: £101 – £110 per day
Contract: Full-time | Temporary | Long-term

Teach Now is recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and high-performing inner-London primary school in Islington. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate and experienced Early Years Teaching Assistant to join a nurturing Reception team and play a key role in shaping childrens first experiences of education.

Youll be working alongside a supportive and collaborative Early Years team committed to delivering outstanding provision.
About the Role
As a Reception Teaching Assistant, you will support the delivery of engaging phonics sessions and help develop childrens early literacy, communication, and social skills. Youll work closely with the class teacher to provide both structured and play-based learning opportunities, ensuring every child is supported to thrive.
Key Responsibilities
• Support high-quality phonics teaching and early reading development
• Assist in delivering engaging EYFS activities (both adult-led and child-initiated)
• Provide targeted support to individuals and small groups
• Promote language development, communication, and social interaction
• Support children with additional needs, including SEND, EAL, or speech and language needs
• Help create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment
• Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families
Requirements
• Experience working as a Teaching Assistant within Early Years or Key Stage 1
• Strong understanding of phonics teaching and early literacy development
• Knowledge of the EYFS framework and child development
• Minimum Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) or relevant experience
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• A patient, caring, and adaptable approach
• Commitment to inclusion and high expectations for all pupils
Desirable
• Level 2 (or higher) Early Years or Teaching Assistant qualification
• Experience working in an inner-city or diverse school setting
• Experience supporting children with SEND, EAL, or speech and language needs

Salary dependent on experience and qualifications. Higher rates are reserved for candidates with substantial experience and/or relevant training. Pay is determined in line with school expectations and Agency Worker Regulations (AWR), where applicable.
