Our Client, a reputable organisation, is seeking a dedicated Bookkeeper to join their team. This role offers the chance to play a vital part in maintaining financial accuracy and supporting day-to-day financial operations in a friendly, collaborative environment.
Role Overview
This key position has been created as part of a strategic growth initiative. The Bookkeeper will be instrumental in managing everyday financial transactions, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and preparing essential financial reports. Working in a friendly office setting in Ongar, Essex, this role promises variety, challenge, and the opportunity to develop your skills within a supportive organisation known for its professional environment.
Key Responsibilities
Recording and maintaining all financial transactions including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments
Reconciling bank statements and verifying the accuracy of financial data
Managing accounts payable and receivable to ensure timely processing
Processing invoices and providing support with credit control activities
Maintaining and updating the general ledger and financial records
Assisting in the preparation of financial reports such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
Ensuring compliance with tax obligations and assisting with filings
Working closely with auditors during financial reviews and audits
Organising and securing comprehensive financial documentationEssential Skills & Experience
Proven experience in bookkeeping or a similar accounting role
Strong understanding of accounting principles and procedures
Competency in accounting software such as Xero and Microsoft Excel
High attention to detail and precision in work
Excellent organisational and time-management skills
Ability to handle confidential information with integrity
Effective communication skillsNice to Have Skills & Experience
Background in accounting, finance, or related fields
Relevant certifications, such as Certified Bookkeeper, would be advantageous
Additional experience with Excel and sound knowledge of accounting systems
Other Requirements
This is an office-based role, ideally working two days per week, from 09:00 to 17:00 with a one-hour unpaid lunch
