Registered Building Inspector (Plan Checking Lead & Supervisor) Salary: £65,000 + Benefits (negotiable, DOE) Location: Remote Employment Type: Permanent Overview A unique opportunity has opened up for a technically minded Registered Building Inspector with an interest in being remote based, to join a forward-thinking local authority in a senior, technical position that focuses on plan checking delivery, supervision, and mentoring. This opportunity is ideal for a Senior-level professional looking to step into a impactful role centred around technical oversight and quality assurance. You will play a key role in maintaining high standards across the service, whilst also delivering results across a diverse portfolio of projects. Alongside your technical responsibilities, you will support the ongoing development of colleagues and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the wider team. Key Responsibilities * Provide technical supervision and review of inspection reports, site records, and associated documentation. * Ensure all work is delivered in line with current Building Regulations, legislation, and professional standards. * Undertake plan assessments across a range of projects including residential, commercial, and more complex developments. * Produce clear and accurate plan check reports and compliance advice. * Mentor and support colleagues on technical matters, particularly on more complex cases. * Monitor quality, consistency, and performance across reporting and inspections. * Identify areas of risk or non-compliance and recommend corrective actions. * Liaise with clients, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to resolve technical queries. * Contribute to team development and continuous improvement initiatives. About You * Registered Building Inspector (Class 2F preferred but not mandatory). * Strong experience in plan checking within building control. * In-depth knowledge of Building Regulations, the Building Act, and associated legislation. * Strong communication skills with an approachable and supportive style. * Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple technical priorities. * Comfortable working with a range of IT systems and document management platforms.
