Senior Quantity Surveyor
We are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join an expanding commercial team delivering complex, high-value marine and civil engineering projects. This role offers a competitive salary of up to £70,000, plus bonus scheme and car allowance, based in Dawlish, Devon.
Role Overview
This position involves supporting the successful commercial delivery of marine and civil engineering works, including coastal, flood defence, and infrastructure projects. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to a growing project pipeline within a forward-thinking environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead cost planning, forecasting, and value reporting across assigned projects.
* Prepare tenders, bills of quantities, variations, and claims; negotiate with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
* Monitor cost/value reconciliations (CVRs), cash flow, and margin performance.
* Oversee procurement and subcontractor management, ensuring compliance and effective risk control.
* Provide commercial guidance to project teams and support/mentor junior quantity surveyors.
* Ensure commercial governance, timely valuations, and accurate final accounts.
Experience in marine infrastructure, flood defence, coastal engineering, or civil construction is highly advantageous.

Essential Criteria
* Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field
* Professional membership (e.g. MRICS, CICES) or working towards
* Proven experience in a Senior Quantity Surveyor role within civil engineering or infrastructure
* Strong experience in cost management, CVRs, forecasting, and contract negotiation
* Good understanding of UK construction contracts (e.g. NEC, JCT)
* Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
Desirable Criteria
* Experience in marine, coastal, or flood defence projects
* Knowledge of marine plant hire, piling, or commercial diving
* Familiarity with digital commercial systems and reporting tools
Additional Information
* Location: Dawlish, Devon
* Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday
* Working Pattern: Office and site-based as required, with occasional overnight stays
