Youth Worker - Wokingham Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers and reach their full potential? We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Youth Worker to join a specialist school in Wokingham that supports students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people who require additional support with behaviour, emotional regulation, and mental health challenges. About the Role: As a Youth Worker, you will play a key role in supporting students both inside and outside the classroom. You will help them develop positive routines, build coping strategies, and manage their emotions in a safe and structured environment. Working closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams, you will contribute to creating a consistent and supportive experience for each student. Key Responsibilities: Support students with behavioural needs and SEMH challenges on a day-to-day basis Assist in implementing personalised intervention plans tailored to individual students Promote positive routines and help students develop effective regulation techniques Provide emotional support and act as a positive role model Support students in understanding and working towards the outcomes outlined in their EHCPs Help create a safe, nurturing, and structured learning environmentThe Ideal Candidate: Has a genuine interest in working with vulnerable young people Is patient, resilient, and empathetic Can remain calm under pressure and respond positively to challenging behaviour Experience working with children or young people with additional needs is highly desirable, but not essential Backgrounds in youth work, coaching, or support work would be advantageous but also not essentialWhat the School Offers: A supportive and experienced team environment Opportunities for professional development and training A chance to gain valuable experience within a specialist education setting The opportunity to make a lasting impact on young people's livesThis role would be particularly suited to individuals considering careers in education, psychology, social work, or youth support.
