About the role

Secondary Learning Support Assistant Prospero Teaching is recruiting a dedicated and adaptable Secondary Learning Support Assistant to work in a secondary school setting in Southampton until the end of the summer term. This is a varied and rewarding role supporting students across KS3 and KS4 with a range of needs, including educational, emotional, and pastoral support. Support may involve 1:1 work with individual students or assisting within a classroom environment. Daily timetables are provided each morning, so flexibility and a proactive approach are essential. This role is ideal for someone confident working in secondary education and able to adapt to changing priorities throughout the school day. The Role: Provide 1:1 support for individual students when required Support learning within the classroom alongside the teacher Offer emotional, moral, and educational support to pupils Help students stay focused, engaged, and confident Support behaviour, routines, and transitions throughout the day Complete required training and record‑keeping using IT systems Work flexibly with daily timetables issued each morning Follow safeguarding and school policies consistently Ideal Candidate: Experience working with young people, ideally in a secondary school setting Confident supporting students both individually and within a class Strong communication and interpersonal skills Calm, flexible, and able to adapt to daily changes Reasonable IT capability and comfortable completing online training Supportive, reliable, and a positive role model Able to work effectively as part of a wider team Contract Details: Position: Secondary Learning Support Assistant Location: Southampton Start Date: ASAP Contract Length: Until the end of the summer term Working Pattern: Full‑time, term‑time Pay Rate: £14.66 - £15.66 per hour Key Stages: KS3-KS4 Experience, Training & Safeguarding: Experience working with secondary‑aged students beneficial Reasonable IT skills required Safeguarding training can be provided What Prospero Teaching Offers: Free accredited CPD, including safeguarding & behaviour management Ongoing support from a dedicated consultant A supportive and professional recruitment process Opportunities for future long‑term or permanent rolesIf you're looking for a short‑term secondary LSA role in Southampton where you can make a real impact between now and the end of the summer term, we'd love to hear from you.
