Design Technician

JOB – Design Technician LOCATION – Reading    TERM – Permanent SALARY - £27,000 - £42,000 per annum, dependent on experience My client is a specialist supplier of bespoke metalwork. They are looking for an experienced Design Technician to join their expanding team based in the Reading area on a permanent basis. The Design Technician will ideally have the following attributes: At least 2 years’ experience in a Mechanical Engineering or hands-on Design Engineering role Knowledge of sheet metal, welding, fabrication, castings etc. Basic proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD software – Revit, AutoCAD Ability to understand Architectural and Structural drawings Knowledge of R&D - testing, protoyping, development etc. Proficient using MS Office Good mathematical and general engineering knowledge The ability to understand system requirements Be self-motivated with excellent attention to detail Have excellent communication skills both verbal and written  The Design Technician role will involve: Designing and manufacturing prototypes and test equipment Testing, performing experiments, prototyping, verifying designs Using Revit & AutoCAD to provide detailed drawings Working alongside Structural and Architectural Engineers    Being involved in final assembly of products Creating the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plans Monitoring requirements and timescales Working in a small multi-disciplinary team on varied projects  If you are interested in this position, please apply with an up to date CV as soon as possible, along with your availability and your salary expectation.
