About the role
Experienced Press Setter Operator required to join a dynamic and growing manufacturer with a strong future secured through long‑term customer contracts. A leading producer of high‑quality springs and pressings for a wide range of industries, as Press Setter Operator you will be responsible for setting and operating Presses, Multi‑slide machines and high‑speed progression tooling to ensure products are manufactured to the highest standards and within required deadlines.
Successful candidate for the role of Press Setter Operator should possess a background in spring manufacturing and have experience setting and operating Presses up to 160 tonne, along with proven capability in setting and running Multi‑slide machines such as Bihler, Simas and Heenan Froude. The position of Press Setter Operator is offered as a Permanent contract on day shift, with competitive rates of pay, Pension and immediate start available.
Duties of Press Setter Operator:
* Set up and operate coil‑fed presses, including Sweeney & Blocksidge (160‑tonne) and Chinfong presses
* Set and operate Multi‑slide machines, including Bihler, Simas and Heenan Froude
* Set tooling and coil feeders, working accurately to engineering drawings
* Change over coils and feed material into tools, maintaining smooth production flow
* Set and run high‑speed stainless‑steel strip coil on both presses and multi‑slide machinery
* Inspection of the product from appropriate drawings
* Observe machine operation to verify accuracy of machine settings and to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, using precision measuring instruments
* Work according to Production Plan
* Maintain accurate data/records/documentation associated with your work
* Carry out tasks within allotted time limits
* Ensure compliance with quality standards, policies and procedures, codes and legislation including health and safety
* Immediately report problems/failures that may impact on the organisation and/or its clients/customers to Line Manager
* Responsibly use resources and control expenses to meet agreed budgetary controls
Skills/attributes required by successful candidate for the role of Press Setter Operator:
* Experience of setting/operating presses up to 160 tonne and multi-slide machines
* Setting and running high speed progression tools and secondary operation presses in the manufacture of spring clip pressings and forming of spring wire products
* Capable of working on own initiative and running a Press/Multi-slide section
* Setting and running high-speed stainless-steel strip coil on both presses and multi-slide
* Fully conversant with High Volume Automotive Production and Quality Standards
Location: Redditch, Worcestershire
Hours of Work: Mon to Thurs 8 am – 5 pm, Fri 8 am – 1 pm (39 hours per week)
Salary: Up to £15.50 per hour (dependent upon experience)
