Job Title: Subject Lead of Chemistry
A school in Staines are seeking to appoint an inspirational and committed Subject Lead of Chemistry to provide outstanding leadership within their Science faculty. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced teacher to play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of Chemistry and driving forward high standards of teaching, learning, and student achievement.
The successful candidate will be an excellent classroom practitioner with a passion for Chemistry and a clear vision for delivering an ambitious, engaging, and inclusive curriculum. You will have the ability to lead and support colleagues effectively, ensuring consistently high-quality teaching and strong outcomes for all learners.
Key Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership for Chemistry across all key stages
*
Lead, manage, and develop staff within the department, including coaching and professional development
*
Design, implement, and review a high-quality and inclusive Chemistry curriculum
*
Ensure consistently outstanding teaching and learning across the department
*
Monitor student progress, attainment, and assessment data, using findings to inform intervention strategies
*
Lead departmental CPD to enhance teaching practice and student outcomes
*
Promote high expectations for behaviour, engagement, and achievement
*
Oversee assessment, examination preparation, and standardisation processes
*
Report on departmental performance to senior leadership as required
*
Contribute to whole-school priorities and enrichment opportunities
Person Specification
The successful candidate will:

Be an outstanding classroom practitioner with strong subject knowledge in Chemistry
*
Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
*
Demonstrate the ability to lead, inspire, and develop staff
*
Have a strong understanding of curriculum development, assessment, and raising attainment
*
Be committed to ensuring excellent outcomes for all students
*
Be reflective, collaborative, and committed to ongoing professional development
*
Be able to motivate students and staff to achieve their full potential
Professional Expectations
The role requires full commitment to whole-school policies and procedures, including those relating to safeguarding, behaviour, assessment, and teaching and learning. The postholder will also be expected to contribute to enrichment activities and the wider life of the school community.
