About the Role
Term Time Teachers are seeking a skilled and forward-thinking Information Technology Teacher to join a well-established IT and computing department in Tonbridge. This role places a strong emphasis on practical IT skills, digital systems, and real-world technology applications, preparing students for both further education and modern digital careers.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, deliver, and assess engaging Information Technology lessons up to KS5, with a focus on applied digital skills.
- Teach core IT topics including digital literacy, networking, cybersecurity, databases, and systems architecture.
- Introduce students to practical software applications, including office productivity tools, web technologies, and collaborative platforms.
- Support understanding of IT systems in real-world contexts, such as business environments, cloud computing, and data management.
- Foster a hands-on, inclusive learning environment that encourages experimentation and confidence with technology.
- Prepare students for examinations, coursework, and vocational pathways in IT-related fields.
- Contribute to curriculum development, ensuring content remains aligned with current industry standards and emerging technologies.
- Lead or support extracurricular activities such as IT clubs, digital skills workshops, or tech-based projects.
Requirements
- Degree in Information Technology, Computing, or a related field (Bachelor's or higher).
- Teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent) preferred.
- Experience teaching IT or Computing at secondary or post-secondary level.
- Strong knowledge of IT systems, networking basics, cybersecurity principles, and common software platforms.
- Familiarity with web technologies (HTML/CSS) and introductory programming (e.g., Python).
- Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- A genuine passion for digital education and student development.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft 365) and virtual learning environments.
- Knowledge of emerging technologies such as AI, cloud computing, or Internet of Things (IoT).
- Experience delivering vocational IT qualifications (e.g., BTEC).
- Willingness to contribute to wider school initiatives and collaborative projects.
