We are seeking a caring, patient and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support children within our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about early childhood development and committed to supporting young children with special educational needs at a crucial stage of their learning and development.
The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers, the SENCO and wider pastoral team to provide tailored support that enables children to thrive socially, emotionally and academically.
Location: ColneHours: 8.40am – 3.40pmSalary: £14.25 - £15 per hour Contract: Full-timeStart Date: ASAP
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small-group SEN support within an EYFS setting
- Support children with additional needs, including communication and interaction, social and emotional needs, and sensory processing difficulties
- Assist with the delivery of an inclusive, play-based EYFS curriculum
- Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and independence
- Support personal care routines where required
- Observe, record and contribute to assessments and support plans
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO and external professionals
- Create a safe, nurturing and stimulating learning environment
- Uphold safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working with children in EYFS and/or SEN environments
- A strong understanding of early years development and SEND
- A calm, nurturing and patient approach
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to work as part of a supportive team
- A commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
