About the role

About the Role Pathway Academy Zone is seeking a dedicated SENCO Lead to oversee SEND provision within our Alternative Provision setting. This is an operational role, focused on ensuring learners with additional needs are identified early, supported effectively, and able to engage positively in education. You will work closely with teaching staff and leadership to deliver consistent, high-quality support across the provision. This role would suit an experienced SENCO or an individual working towards their NASENCO qualification who is ready to take on greater responsibility. Key Responsibilities * Lead SEND provision across the setting on a day-to-day basis * Identify learner needs and ensure appropriate interventions are in place * Manage EHCP processes, including reviews and liaison with external agencies * Work with tutors to adapt teaching strategies for SEND learners * Provide guidance and practical support to staff on SEMH and additional needs * Monitor learner progress and evaluate the impact of support strategies * Act as a key point of contact for parents, carers, and professionals * Ensure compliance with SEND Code of Practice and safeguarding requirements Requirements * Experience working within a SEND or SENCO-related role * Strong understanding of EHCPs, SEND Code of Practice, and SEMH * Ability to support staff and contribute to inclusive practice * Strong communication and organisational skills * A proactive and solution-focused approach Desirable: * NASENCO qualification or currently working towards it * Experience within Alternative Provision, PRU, or similar settings Why Join Pathway Academy Zone * Opportunity to take ownership of SEND provision within a growing setting * Supportive leadership team and collaborative environment * Clear progression opportunities as the provision develops * A role with direct impact on learner engagement and outcomes Safeguarding Pathway Group is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
