About the role

Store Manager

Belstaff, a functional clothing brand, has a legacy of innovation and builds a culture of independent spirits.

We are currently searching for a Store Manager to join the team. This role is a 40‑hour per week contract.

Customer Service

  • Create a client centric culture within the Store.
  • Lead by example demonstrating clients are the main focus at all times.
  • Set a Belstaff standard that exceeds the benchmark for customer service within the luxury/premium retail industry.
  • Ensure store deployment is focused on meeting client traffic and operational demands.
  • Ensure the team are fully conversant with the history and current direction of Belstaff, all product and collections and use this information effectively when communicating with clients.
  • Pre‑empt and respond to client needs to excel in service standards.
  • Deal with client complaints efficiently and effectively in line with Company policy and ensure client expectations are exceeded.
  • Ensure efficient after sales service is maintained.

Sales & Financial Targets

  • Achieve store set sales targets on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
  • Monitor weekly and monthly product sell‑through, assess trends of best sellers and react to stock levels. Manage slow‑moving stock with commercial solutions.
  • Report daily, weekly and monthly to Head of Retail on sales patterns, best sellers, sales by employee and propose actions to enhance performance.
  • Achieve KPI targets and personal objectives set monthly and annually during performance review.
  • Optimise sales by ensuring the team consistently attracts new clients and develops the existing client base of Belstaff.
  • Encourage the team to understand and demonstrate an entrepreneurial flair for the selling process to achieve the above.
  • Ensure the team proactively captures customer data after each sale in line with company policy.
  • Maintain and update client data to be used continuously in the store, ensuring compliance with company policy and GDPR.
  • Maximise stock levels on the shop floor, with all items clearly priced and labelled to company standard.
  • Promote key products and stay aware of current press and editorial to assist with client enquiries and communicate with the team.
  • Assist in the planning and coordination of in‑store promotional events.
  • Oversee training and coaching to ensure all sales consultants achieve and maintain the above sales standards.
  • Motivate and actively encourage all sales consultants to meet targets.
  • Make a significant personal contribution to the sales targets of the store.

KPIs

  • Drive productivity and profitability by analysing conversion rates, sales, UPT, ATV, customer data capture, and identifying opportunities.
  • Be commercially aware and responsive to sales trends.
  • Develop business initiatives approved by the Head of Retail to maximise sales opportunities and exceed store objectives.
  • Utilise available marketing tools (CRM) to maximise brand loyalty and drive sales.
  • Maximise sales and profit by analysing performance through commercial tools and KPIs.
  • Define, communicate and monitor sales targets and service levels for the Store Team, coaching and developing the team to ensure targets are consistently exceeded.

Visual Merchandising

  • Ensure visual merchandising is of an excellent standard and all displays are in line with brand identity, VM guidelines and commercial objectives.
  • Understand, execute and adapt all VM guidelines received from the Head Office VM team.
  • Create structures and routines to maintain an excellent level of VM display at all times, providing training and sharing the latest VM techniques and information with the team.
  • Represent the store at the VM workshops and team sessions in London.
  • Communicate with the Head Office Visual Team as required, providing visual reports, photo reviews, VM relevant business and traffic data, and insights and analysis of what works and what needs changing.
  • Ensure stock is correctly labelled, tagged and available on the shop floor at all times.
  • Keep stock in the best possible condition for sale, storing any product not on the shop floor to avoid damage.
  • Assist in re‑merchandising the store when needed.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping throughout the store.

People Management

  • Engage the team through strong leadership, setting objectives and ensuring clarity of required outcomes.
  • Conduct effective recruitment and selection to achieve a high level of staff.
  • Manage, coach and develop all staff and management employees to reach their potential and achieve required performance standards.
  • Develop trust and loyalty through fair and consistent management.
  • Identify and resolve all employee issues promptly and professionally, in partnership with HR.
  • Ensure image and grooming standards are professional, reflective of the brand and adhered to at all times.
  • Continuously develop and expand own skills and knowledge to improve performance.

Administration

  • Carry out all administrative aspects efficiently and accurately within required timelines: sales reports, daily sales and banking sheets, HR and payroll documentation, health and safety reports, etc.

Human Resources

  • Manage all store‑related HR and payroll tasks in conjunction with HR policy and the HR team.

Communication

  • Hold regular team briefing sessions using all available forms of communication.
  • Ensure communication flow with the team and Head of Retail.
  • Stay continually aware of all company communications and pass on relevant information to the team.

Staffing

  • Plan daily tasks and ensure completion by self and other staff.
  • Produce monthly staffing schedules ensuring proper coverage to provide high levels of customer service and maximise sales.

Health & Safety

  • Be aware of and follow all company rules and HSE legislation.
  • Lead and proactively manage the H&S processes for the store as per company procedures.
  • Ensure all team members are aware of, trained on and follow all company rules and HSE legislation.

Stock and Security

  • Adhere to company, store security, cash handling and key holding procedures.
  • Ensure team is aware of how to use tagging & other security systems in store.
  • Protect all stock at all times.
  • Avoid theft by following company procedures and minimising opportunities.
  • Enforce standards of storing stock on the shop floor and back of house.
  • Participate in and coordinate all audits and counts.
  • Ensure minimal shrinkage according to targets set.

Miscellaneous

  • Respond to any reasonable request made by Management.
  • Undertake further duties as your skills, qualifications and experience allow and as may be assigned by the Company from time to time.

Decision Making and Authority Levels

  • Liaise with Head of Retail on day‑to‑day decisions regarding safety, profitability and legal issues within the store.
  • Banking and financial takings reconciliation.
  • Petty cash control.
