Role Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Theatre Practitioner with a specialism in Orthopaedics to join a high-performing theatre team within a well-established independent healthcare provider.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled practitioner looking to take on a senior role, combining clinical expertise with leadership responsibilities in a modern and supportive theatre environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage specialist orthopaedic instrumentation and equipment, including power tools, implants, and navigation systems, in line with surgical protocols
- Provide expert support to surgical and anaesthetic teams, anticipating requirements and responding effectively to intraoperative changes
- Take a lead role in theatre preparation, coordinating surgical lists and ensuring appropriate staffing, equipment, and resources are in place
- Support the Theatre Manager with team coordination, briefings, scheduling, stock control, and patient flow
- Supervise and support junior theatre practitioners, ODPs, and healthcare assistants, providing guidance and clinical oversight
- Identify, escalate, and contribute to the management of clinical and operational risks, including participation in audits and incident reviews
- Work collaboratively with consultants, anaesthetists, recovery teams, and ward staff to ensure continuity of care and an excellent patient experience
Requirements
- Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC)
- Significant perioperative experience with a strong focus on orthopaedic surgery
- Proven experience supporting a wide range of orthopaedic procedures, including complex cases
- Previous experience in a senior or team lead role within a theatre setting
- Strong xwzovoh leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
- Comprehensive understanding of clinical governance, infection prevention, and patient safety
- Orthopaedic experience is essential
